We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert
photographs up here on The Old Blog. I suppose we will catch up at some
point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs
can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13 Media,
which you can do by following the link. If you'd like an even more direct
route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using
the following
link. Back in the beginning of September, Parc Jean-Drapeau was taken over by almost 45,000 metal heads. Part of the draw was to get the chance to see one of the most well know performers of the 1980s class of thrashers, Dave Mustaine and Megadeth for potentially the last time. Dave has already mentioned that the recently released self-titled album would be there last. While we
know that rock and roll retirements don't always last, in this case it feels like it might stick. As the sun began to set. Dave Mustaine and his custom white shirt and snarl hit the stage. “Tipping Point”, from their self-titled most
recent album opened the set. The crowd
banged along to the new song, but erupted when the familiar opening of “Hangar
18” began. The current version of the
band features Teemu Mäntysaari on guitar and he played the classic songs to
perfection. He easily slots in with the
list of great guitarists that Megadeth has had over the years. “Sweating
Bullets” provided a chance for the crowd to sing along with Dave, but the song
they really wanted to sing came a little later.
When Megadeth played “À Tout Le Monde”, the crowd roared their approval. This was the first time
Megadeth played the
song on this current leg of the tour. It
has always been a Montréal favourite.
The crowd, perhaps knowing this was their last chance to sing it, sang
the chorus loud and proud.“Peace
Sells”, “Symphony Of Destruction” and “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” brought
Megadeth’s portion of the show to an end.
Was this Dave Mustaine’s final visit to Montréal? If it was, he and his band gave a performance
that rattled the windows clear across the St. Lawrence. Megadeth, one of the legendary “Big Four”
won’t be forgotten. The King is
dead. Long live the King.
All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Megadeth while they performed on the Parc Jean-Drapeau stage. To find out more about Megadeth and their music, you can follow the link to their website. To see the photographs that I took of Iron Maiden and Anthrax, who also performed that day, you can follow the respective links. Dave Mustaine always surrounds himself with great musicians and Megadeth always put on a great show. Don't you dare miss it when they perform in a town near you, before it's too late.
