I guess you could say that I am a sucker for tradition. Every year for Mother's Day, you can be pretty assured that there is an update here on The Old Blog of a flower to help celebrate our Mom's. For the longest time, I struggled to find something I could post up for Father's Day. A few years back I took some photographs of an old Hot Wheels car that had been given to me from my father several years back. The kid inside of me still enjoys playing with my toys, and thus, a tradition was born. For Father's Day, we some photographs of my Hot Wheels cars. This year, it's a photograph of a 1986 Ford Thunderbird Pro Stock race car. I had been looking for a Thunderbird to add to my collection as my Grandfather used to drive one back in the day. Not a stock car, obviously, but I hadn't found any others yet, and I really liked the colour scheme so this was an easy pick up to make. As with last year, I got a little bit carried away playing, I mean photographing, my car, so we have a nice little selection here. I also placed my Thunderbird in a couple of different spots. In the first photograph, which I cropped to 12" x 4", I used the window sill in the back. By zooming close on the car, it give the appearance of being in a dirt road. Some stones collected by The Heir Apparent were added for effect in the back for what I felt was a rustic feel. I also used the stair case of our back deck. This give me a clear view of the setting sun which made for a very nice background with some flash used at a reduced strength to light up the car, but not wash out the sun. That photograph would be the final one of this set. Speaking of which, the first three photographs were taken at f/7.1, 1/100sec, ISO 100 at 70mm. Here is the rest of the set.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there, especially mine. We're a few days late on The Old Blog, but we celebrated for real on Sunday. Thanks for those cars all those years ago, and of course, everything else. Maybe some day in the future The Heir Apparent and Crown Prince will have some favourite toys that remind them of me as well.
