To close out the fun on Saturday night at the Longueuil Ribfest, the crowd got a special treat. Making an appearance at the Longueuil Ribfest for the second year in a row, super talented guitarist Jeff Smallwood hit the stage. He has played with a who's who list of talented and well known artists over the years and announced that he will soon be leaving to perform in Europe alongside Roch Voisine. On this night, he headlined the final musical performance of the night by playing several songs, some his own, some versions of the famous songs he has played on, before giving way to the Longueuil Ribfest's homegrown musical unit, The Roots Band. Though some have moved one, every member of the band either hails from Greenfield Park, or at one time called the community home. This talented bunch get together every year and play several sets for their hometown friends and family, all to help out the the All For The Children Charity Foundation, the non-profit organization that is behind the Longueuil Ribfest and does so many good things over the course of the year to help out the children of the community. This resulted in a rocking good evening that filled Empire Park in Greenfield Park and had the locals singing along well in to the night. Your Friendly Neighbourhood Photographer got a little carried away in the fun as well. As a result, this will be the biggest update that you have seen on these pages. There were lots of people who hit the stage and I wanted to make sure that I got a couple of shots of everyone involved. With that in mind, I know this is a photography blog, but to save myself from a case of carpal tunnel syndrome we'll forgo the usual photograph stats. I can tell you that they were all taken at f/3.2 and the ISO was generally between 1600 and 6400. If there are any of you out there who really want to know feel free to get in touch and I will give the detailed information to you personally. In the meantime, get yourself nice and comfy, grab yourself a nice salty snack and a cold beverage, because here are several more photographs that I took of Jeff Smallwood and The Roots Band during their Longueuil Ribfest performance.
Yes, I'm still here, thanks for sticking around. If you would like to find out more about Jeff Smallwood and his music, you can do so by following the link to his website. The Roots band don't have a website, but would be more than happy to chat about their music with you if you cross paths on the streets of Greenfield Park. A big thank you to Pennie Berrworth and Mark Christiano for allowing me to shoot the Longueuil Ribfest shows over the weekend and don't forget to take a look at their foundation, All For The Children. You can also see the photographs that I took earlier that night of Old Habits, Kalan, The Derek Falls Band, The Intonations, Leadville Union and Queen Flash, by following the respective links. Jeff Smallwood is a magical guitarist and you should for sure check him out if he is playing, solo or with someone else, near you.
