Mattstagraham At MTelus

Montreal's MTelus has seen many diverse acts over the years, so I'm pretty sure that it was ready for the evening of punk rock awesomeness that was about to take place.  Things began to get revved up thanks to the opening set of punk rock newcomers, Mattstagraham.  If I may get in on the act, this was my first Mattstamoment, and what a moment it was.  They must have sensed the bubbling energy in the crowd as well.  They hit the crowd with guitars blazing with their first song, 'Gotta Be Productive' and had the floor of the MTelus vibrating by the time their second song, 'Petty', from their new album Yellow Paint had finished.  That new album was just released in June of this year, but they've released a series of singles over the last five years that have been getting a fair bit of attention.   Midway through their set, it was announced that it was their guitarist Isaac’s birthday and the entire crowd sang the traditional song.  They said it was his 50th birthday, but since I would be celebrating the Big 5-0 myself the next night, I was kind of lead to believe that it might have been joke since he looks a fair bit younger than your Friendly Neighbourhood Photographer.  After the song and what looked to be a cold beverage, Mattstagraham got back to rocking the crowd with all their might.  What a great way to open the show.  All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths.  Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Mattstagraham while they performed on the MTelus stage.

If you would like to find out more about Mattstagraham and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you would like to see the photographs that I took of The Buzzcocks and Descendents, who also performed that night, you can do so by following the respective links.  Mattstagraham were terrific during their short performance and definitely earned my digging in to their catalogue to hear more.  You should do the same.  Mattstagraham are finishing up their current tour, but will surely be back on the road again soon.  Don't you dare miss them when they hit a town near you.
