Memorial Geranium

The calendar has once again delivered us to another June 4th.  A day where we pause to remember two very important people to The Old Blog.  My Grandmother Mémère and My Lovely Assistant's mother, Belle Mom.  Both passed away on a June 4th.  Though Mémère passed away before this blog began, she had been enjoying my early photographic work way back when my roll of film would be developed in an hour.  Belle Mom was there for the early years of the blog, though has been gone seven years now.  Missing out on all kinds of photographs over the years, including ones she would have loved of The Heir Apparent and the Crown Prince.  As is tradition, we remember them on this day with the photograph of a geranium.  Both of them loved this little flower, and we always make sure to have some around the house.  The photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 100 at 70mm.  We miss you both.

92 Days

Long time readers of The Old Blog are well aware of my disdain for the heat and humidity of Summer.  I can't stand it.  Have always hated it and will probably continue to do so.  June 1st is always what I call the most depressing day of the year.  It is the first of the 92 days that comprise June, July and August.  Traditionally the warmest months of the year.  I literally count down the days until September 1st. Knowing that by then, most of the heat and humidity that I hate will have passed.  So, to remind me of more comfortable times, here is a little blast of Winter.  I grant you that this may not end up being my most popular post.  I admit that it has been a very long Winter.  Some of you may be looking forward to the heat.  For those of you who feel that way, don't worry.  I won't hold your wrong opinion against you.  The photograph was taken at f/7.1, 1/320sec, ISO 100 at 70mm.  One down, 91 to go.
