We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert
photographs up here on The Old Blog. I suppose we will catch up at some
point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs
can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media,
which you can do by following the link. If you'd like an even more direct
route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using
the following
link. Montreal's MTelus was the host to a rock and roll feast a few weeks back. The
appetizer on this night came in the form of a terrific rock performance by Surf Hat. They were certainly a very
uplifting voice. The smiles radiating
from every member of the band was as infectious as the rocking grooves they
were creating. Surf Hat opened with
“Automatic Years”, quickly followed with
“Hang’em Up” and “The Gutter”. This trifecta of songs gave us a small taste
from each of their three albums. Their
most recent album, Modern World Blues, was released back in November. It was a great
intro to their sound for those that didn’t yet know them. A short
intro of The Tragically Hip’s “Ahead By A Century” got a rise from the
crowd. From that snippet, they continued
into “Cats And Dogs”. Before leaving the
stage to “Surf Hat Ranch”, the band mentioned that they will be returning to
Foufounes Électriques later this year.
The legendary venue is just a few doors down the street. It’s almost a certainty that many of the fans
from this night will be making the short walk down the street. All
of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter
speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the
photographs that I took of Surf Hat as they performed up on the MTelus stage.
If you would like to find out more about Surf Hat and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website. If you would like to see the photographs that I took of The Sheepdogs, who performed later that night, you can do so by following the link. Surf Hat put on an uplifting and rocking performance that was appreciated by everyone in the building. Don't you dare miss it when they perform in a town near you.
