The Sheepdogs At MTelus

We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert photographs up here on The Old Blog.  I suppose we will catch up at some point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media, which you can do by following the link.  If you'd like an even more direct route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using the following link.  Among its many talents, a Sheepdog is known for herding livestock.  There were no farm animals at the MTelus this past Thursday night.  However, The Sheepdogs had herded all of their fans into the building.  Bringing them all together for what would be an unforgettable night of rock and roll.  The Sheepdogs have always been popular in Montreal.  They were here just a few weeks ago for an album release party hosted by local radio station CHOM 97.7FM.  That performance served as an appetizer for the big MTelus show this past week.  As the house lights went down, The Sheepdogs then took the stage to a huge roar.  The opened the concert with “I’m Gonna Be Myself”.  Right from the start, the band was rocking out.  Leading the way was guitarist Ricky Paquette.  From the very start, he was in his element.  Though not an original member of the group, it’s almost impossible to think of The Sheepdogs without him.  I think I could have filled my memory card just on his wild playing and solos alone.  But, that is the beauty of The Sheepdogs.  They are more than just one person.  Ewan Currie remains the voice of the band.  And what a voice he has.  Warm and inviting at one moment, but ready to rip rock and roll the next.  Bassist Ryan Gullen is from another planet.  Much like their performance opening for Bryan Adams last October, he just glides across the stage.  Much like a benevolent spirit, he gently appears at all points of the stage at any and all times.  The Sheepdogs followed up with “Bad For Your Health”.  It was the first of many tracks they would play from their latest album, Keep Out Of The Storm.  Fan favourite “I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be” kept the party atmosphere at a high pitch.  The title track from their latest album was a definite highlight while the rest of their set consisted of their tried and true hits.  The show came to a roaring end with “I Don’t Know” and “Nobody”.  At that point, our hosts allowed the herded masses to gently return into the night to make their ways home.  It was a great night of Canadian rock and roll that only served to continue what we already knew.  All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths.  Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of The Sheepdogs while they performed up on the MTelus stage.

If you would like to find out more about The Sheepdogs and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Surf Hat, who performed earlier that evening, you can do so by following the link.  Much thanks goes out to The Sheepdogs' management team at Velvet Antler Management, Evenko and Christopher Gonda at V13 Media for getting me a pass to cover the show.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  TheSheepdogs are a great band that shouldn’t be missed.  Their 2026 Canadian Tour continues in to October.  Don't you dare miss it when they perform in a town near you.
