We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert
photographs up here on The Old Blog. I suppose we will catch up at some
point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs
can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13 Media,
which you can do by following the link. If you'd like an even more direct
route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using
the following
link. A Saturday night in Montreal is usual prime hockey time. However, the NHL was nice enough to wait until Sunday for the first Canadiens play-off game, leaving me with a clear conscience as I headed downtown for a show at L'Olympia. The evening
got off to a rocking start with a terrific set by Beast In Black. They opened their set with ‘Power Of The
Beast’, a big single that they released in
2024. Every head was banging in unison before the first solo began. The only person having perhaps more fun than
the crowd was drummer Atte Palokangas.
He always has a smile on his face and remains my favourite drummer to
photograph. Grinning drummers aside,
singer Yannis Papadopoulos continues to belt out the songs with an unmatched
power. Upon seeing the band for the first time in 2022, I
immediately bought their first three albums.
A fourth Beast In Black album is on the horizon, though that meant that we were
deprived of guitarist Anton Kabanen. He remained at home to work on the new
album. His place was expertly taken by
Daniel Freyberg, who was shredding and snarling all night. We also go to hear Beast In Black's latest single, 'Enter The Behelit'. Perhaps it will find its way onto the new album. Their ten song set blew by far too quickly, leaving the fans wanting and waiting for more. Perhaps a return as a headliner is in the cards once that new album ended up getting released. We can only hope. All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Beast In Black while they performed on the L'Olympia stage. If you would like to find out more about Beast In Black and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website. If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Helloween, who performed later that night, you can do so by following the link. Beast In Black really caught my attention the first time I caught them, and they're still holding it now. Great music, and a great show. Don't you dare miss it when they perform in a town near you.
