I often say that it's fun to discover some new bands who are opening acts at shows. But, sometimes it's fun to have a mega show where everyone involved is known and could have been the headliner. Such was the case last Friday night at MTelus. Three of the biggest names in thrash metal took the stage. The first of which being Death Angel, though they could have easily headlined a show themselves. They released their first album, The Ultra-Violence, back in 1987 when everyone in the band were still teenagers. The drummer was only 14! After breaking up for a time in the 90s, Death Angel roared back to life in the 2000s. One could argue that their performance was the best one of the night. The venue was sold out, and despite a 6:45 start time, people were already packed inside before the first note was played. Their latest album, Humanicide, was released back in 2019, so I think it is safe to say that there should be some new music coming from them soon. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/80sec, ISO 3200 at 63mm. Here are several more photographs of their performance.

Matt Lang At Théâtre Corona
It's the first day of Rock-tober, so we need to celebrate with a little music. This past Thursday night, Matt Lang and his rowdy band headlined the Théâtre Corona in Montreal, and with with a hockey game happening just a few blocks away, managed to sell out the venue. The Old Blog carries a bit of link with Matt Lang. Back in 2018, I figured that it would be pretty cool to photograph some concerts. I figured that the easiest way to do so would be to photograph some of the free shows that took place outside during the Summer. One of the first shows that I did was the 2018 Canada Day celebrations in Greenfield Park. The headliner on that night was none other than Matt Lang. Those photos I took that day ended up helping me get into
some shows back in 2019, and in return, photos that I took at those shows and others over the years, ended up helping me to get in to this one. His very first album, More, was released in June of 2020, but there have been a couple of singles that have been released since then. That same year he was also nominated in the Rising Star category by the Canadian Country Music Association. He may not have one the award, but his star has continued to rise. Going to a Matt Lang concert is a true happening. They get up there and just let loose. I think you can tell by my photographs that they were all just having a great time up on the stage. Those in attendance were having a blast as well. The first photograph was taken at f/3.5, 1/250sec, ISO 3200 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.5, 1/400sec, ISO 3200 at 28mm. Here are several more photographs that I ended up taking during his performance.
Brittany Kennell At Théâtre Corona
One of the few concerts that I had the opportunity to photograph last year featured Brittany Kennell as the opening act. I had heard a lot about her, both through the media and some of my photographer friends, so was really happy to be able to see and photograph her performance. Fast forward another year, and here is Brittany Kennell once again opening a show, though this time at the larger Théâtre Corona in Montreal. Without a doubt, one of the rising faces of Country not only here in Québec, but also in Canada, Brittany had the sold our crowd singing and dancing their way through a set that passed way to quickly. Keen observers might also recognize her from singing the National Anthems before games by the Montreal Canadiens.
The Heir Apparent took to singing along with her, and with the miserable season the team had last year, Brittany's singing was often the highlight of the night. Though she released her first album, I Ain't A Saint, in September of last year, one can only hope that there will be another album coming in the near future. There's something about watching someone have a good old time that seems to wear off on the audience. Up on the stage, Brittany was all smiles, and watching her, you can't help but want to tap your toes along to the beat and smile right back. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/320sec, ISO 3200 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/125sec, ISO 3200 at 35mm. Here are several more photographs that I took of her performance.
