"Big guitars, big drums and big vocals." That how BRKN LOVE singer Justin Benlolo described what he was looking for when putting his band together. It sure seems like a winning recipe to me. It seems so very long ago, but a few short weeks before 'The Plague' arrived, I had picked up an album from a new Canadian band that I had been hearing on the radio. I thought it was a stroke of genius to be called BRKN LOVE and then release your first album on Valentine's Day. I began looking through concert listings to see if they would be performing anywhere around me, but then, we all know what happened. Here we are, almost three years later and I finally got to see them live. They were one of the opening bands at the Le Studio TD this past Sunday night and they made the wait worth it. Getting back to that opening sentence, they certainly brought some big guitars, drums and vocals to the show. Their songs had the crowd cheering them on from the start and they only got longer, as did the band, as the concert rolled on. In addition to their self-titled debut, they released two EP's (Vol 1. & Vol 2.) over the summer and both have been packaged into their new album, Black Box, which was released earlier this month. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/50sec, ISO 8000 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/30sec, ISO 4000 at 35mm. Here are several more photographs of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about BRKN LOVE and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website. If you'd like to see the photographs that I took of The Blue Stones later that night, you can do so by following this link. A few months back I saw a show that had The Blue Stones as an opening act and mentioned how they would soon be headlining shows of their own. I don't think I'm going out on much of a limb by suggesting the same career trajectory with BRKN LOVE. They were great. Head out and see them for a great show if they're playing near you.
