Sara Dufour At MTelus

We've mentioned before that Montreal is rapidly becoming known as Nashville-North due to the popularity of Country music, and also for the large base of talent that is not only growing, but also maturing and producing records that are gaining attention from all over.  One of those talents is none other than Sara Dufour, who headlined a show at the MTelus in Montreal this past Friday.  Music aside, Sara Dufour will always be connected to good memories for me as back in 2022 I was able to photograph her show and it was my first post-2nd wave of COVID concert.  She was terrific that night and just as terrific this past Friday.  She opened the show to a darkened room with an emotional acoustic tribute to her Mother.  That emotional moment aside, the lights soon came up, but they weren't necessary as her smile immediately lit the room.  Her website describes her as a powerful spark plug of positive energy and this can not be denied.  Some times when I'm photographing shows, I'm silently thinking how cool it would be if the artist on stage would simply smile.  No need to have such thoughts with Sara Dufour.  From opening note to the end of our three songs, as well as through the extra couple of songs I stuck around to hear, it was non-stop smiles from the opening note.  I wasn't there for the end, but I am sure that the smiles lasted all through to the final notes.  Sara Dufour released her most recent album, 'On Va-Tu Prendre Une Marche', back in November of last year and it is a continuation of her brand of 'Folk'n Roll' which is equal parts music and storytelling.  Listening to her stories between songs is just as enteraining as songs.  Sara Dufour is a natural story teller and has the crowd hanging on her every word, laughing along to every funny story and dancing along to every beat.  An all-around superstar who, though already known by the masses, deserves to be known by even more.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/320sec, ISO 3200 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f.3.2, 1/250sec, ISO 3200 at 24mm.  Here are several more photographs of Sara Dufour on stage.

If you'd like to find out more about Sara Dufour and her music, you can do so by following the link to her website.  A big 'merci beaucoup' to her manager, Karl-Emmanuel Picard of Disrict 7 Productions for getting me a pass to shoot the show.  It was very much appreciated.  Sara Dufour is an artist that really needs to be seen live.  On it's own, the music is terrific, but when you add in the extra stories and the unlimited positivity, it makes for a terrific evening.  Sara Dufour will be touring around Quebec through most of the Spring, head out and she her when Sara Dufour brings her show to a town near you.
