Dead Tired At Café Campus

You often hear about people going to a small club and getting surprised when a pretty popular group or performer hits the stage.  This probably doesn't count as a surprise as I was aware before hand, but the group Dead Tired, who was one of the opening acts as Café Campus the other week, is full of Canadian hard rock royalty from the bands Alexisonfire and Born Wrong.  I was able to photograph Alexisonfire this past July, feel free to check out the photographs by following the link, and it was such a great experience.  To have them literally two feet away from me was awesome as it was a great challenge to try and grab some photographs of them as they thrashed around the stage in little to no light.  I decided to play around with some silhouettes a few times as it was quite dark, the stage only being lit with green, blue or red lighting.  Photographing singer George Pettit is a lesson in patience.  He spends the entire set in constant movement, while also belting out lyrics at a volume and speed almost unheard of.  Dead Tired are equally loud and fast, as well as more than a little playful with each other, finding the time for a little inter-band wrestling between solos.  Dead Tired's most recent album, Satan Will Follow You Home, was released last year and they are still touring in support of it.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/125sec, ISO 20000 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/80sec, ISO 8000 at 50mm.  I was able to photograph their entire set, so here are several more photographs of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Dead Tired and their music, you can follow the link to their Facebook page.  To see the photographs that I took of Mvll Crimes and The Dirty Nil who also performed that night, you can do so by following the respective links.  Dead Tired put on a terrific show, though that shouldn't come as a surprise at all considering their pedigree.  Take advantage of seeing an arena worthy performance in a probably much more intimate setting if they happen to be playing near you.
