Time to play a little bit of catch-up. I got to shoot a couple of shows last weekend, but since each one featured three bands and I can't easily brush off the Day-Job, the opening acts had to wait a little while for their little moment to shine here on The Old Blog. The first band that we saw take the stage at the Café Campus in Montreal was Mvll Crimes (pronounced Mall Crimes). This was one intense group. Hailing from Hamilton, Ont, Mvll Crimes hit the ground running with their first tours last year after the release of their first album, You Embvrrvs Me. After doing a little reading I discovered that the inspiration for that title comes from the Fast And The Furious films and is a quote from main character Dominic that they felt should have become a much more iconic quote in the history of the series. It also serves as a quick retort to those who ask what the album is called. I don't know if that story is legit or if they were pulling the journalists leg, but either way, it makes a for a great story. On the stage, Mvll Crimes don't take any prisoners. Though the crowd was a little sparse for a rainy Saturday Night, the band roared through their set in a manner that made sure that those who were there will not forget what they saw. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 12800 at 59mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 20000 at 24mm. I was able to photograph their entire set, so here are several more photographs from their performance.

To find out more about Mvll Crimes and their music, don't forget to follow the link to their Bandcamp site. If you'd like to see the photographs that I took of Dead Tired and The Dirty Nil who performed later that night, you can do so by following the respective links. If some punk rock with loads of attitude is what you're looking for, be sure to check Mvll Crimes out when they're playing near you.
