The Blue Stones At Théâtre Beanfield

I've been shooting concerts for a couple of years now, which is something that I still shake my head at in amazement from time to time while standing in the pit.  When I first started I remember thinking how cool it would be to shoot any particular band, and now I find myself in a position where I can say that I've shot some of them more than once.  Such was the case with the concert down at the Théâtre Beanfield this past Tuesday night.  Our opening band, The Blue Stones, have now been before my camera three times.  And each time I get to shoot them, they band just seems to get better every time.  Their most recent album, Pretty Monster, was released back in November of last year and their songs have been a constant here on Montreal radio for seven years now.  The recorded music is terrific, but hearing them live is another experience entirely.  This duo are just awesome on stage.  It's great to seem them on stage rocking out a building that some bands with several more members are simply not able to do.  The lighting was very dark, but that has always been the case with their shows that I have shot.  They had a really cool red light effect during most of the songs we were allowed to photograph.  It was a bright red straight of a Star Wars film.  Coupled with some well placed fog and it made for some pretty cool shots.  They might not have been playing The Imperial March, but the Musical Force was definitely strong with them on this night.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1000sec, ISO 2000 at 50mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/500sec, ISO 2000 at 24mm.  Here are some more photographs that I took of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about The Blue Stones and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website. If you'd like to see the photographs of The Glorious Sons, who performed later that night, you can do so by following the link.  The Blue Stones are just a terrific band.  Some groups need to mask their lack of ability with lots of flash and bangs, but The Blue Stones just hit the stage and get to the business of rocking out and bringing the crowd along with them for a great time.  For a god show, that is really all you need.  Check them out if they end up playing near you.
