The Glorious Sons At Théâtre Beanfield

Among the list of great Canadian bands that are out there today, The Glorious Sons have to be near the top.  Not only do they bring a long list of hits to town with them, as they did at the Théâtre Beanfield on Tuesday night, but they also bring one of the most energetic live performances that you will see.  The brother duo of Brett and Jay Emmons lead the musical charge, though in totally different manners.  Though the show began with a rather calm vocal opening, lead singer Brett Emmons let loose very shortly, bounding around the stage like a pinball just looking for bumpers to bounce off on.  He is a non-stop ball of energy, belting out lyrics while also being a non-stop force of energy, encouraging the crowd to join along in the fun.  Meanwhile, brother Jay is the constant, reliable presence on the stage, quietly going about business as what I feel is one of the most underated guitarists not only in Canada, but in the rock world at large.  Together, they have led to The Glorious Sons to their current place near the top of the Canadian charts.  Their most recent album, Glory, was released this past September and has continued their long streak of hits.  It's always a pleasure for me to shoot The Glorious Sons as they were one of the bands that I once shot from the crowd.  Now, I get to shoot them from the pit and witness their musical brilliance right up close and personal.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1250sec, ISO 5000 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.5, 1/2500sec, ISO 8000 at 24mm.  Here are several more photographs that I took of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about The Glorious Sons and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you'd like to see the photographs that I took of The Blue Stones, who performed earlier in the evening, you can do so by following the link.  A big thank you goes out to Jason Murray and Ian Stanger of Black Box Management and to Charlotte Thompson and Shelby Burnell of Red Umbrella PR for getting me a pass to shoot the show.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  The Glorious Sons are just finishing up a tour, but will be heading back out on the road in 2024.  Be sure to head out and see them if they play near you.
