Dany Placard At MTelus

Back to the MTelus we go to wrap up some unfinished business.  We were there for the Sara Dufour concert a little while back, the photographs can be seen by following the link, and our opening act for the evening was Dany Placard.  Though he only took up a musical path at the turn of the Century, his music has had a profound impact on many.  Those who follow Dany Placard say his poetry and folk rock style is reminiscent of Bob Dylan and Neil Young.  I never say Dylan on stage, but I can see the connection with Neil Young.  His set was an eclectic performance of songs that ranged from slow mood pieces to rowdy rocking affairs.  He also returned later in the evening as part of Sara Dufour's backing band, which is only appropriate as she declared during her performance that Dany Placard had a profound impact on her own musical career.  I am sure that she is not the only one.  Dany Placard won a Canadian Folk Music Award for Francophone Songwriter of the Year back in 2013 before being nominated again for the same award in 2015.  His most recent album, Julie & Dany, was a collaborative effort with Julie Dorion back in 2022, but before that his most recent solo effort was 2020's "J'connais rien à l'astronomie", which was followed up a year later with the EP "Astronomie".   The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 3200 at 50mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/250sec, ISO 3200 at 61mm.  Here are several more photographs of Dany Placard during his performance.

If you would like to find out more about Dany Placard and his music, you can do so by following the link.  If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Sara Dufour, who performed later that night, you can do so by following the link.  Dany Placard's was such a great performance.  At times soft, melodic and soulful, and then moments later turning into a raucous rock and roll party.  Do yourselves a favour and see his show when he is playing near you.
