In Flames At MTelus

The third band, and co-headliner, to hit the MTelus stage a few weeks back were Swedish Metal legends, In Flames.  I can still remember being introduced to them by a couple of friends at 'the day job'.  It was the cover art on their albums that caught me eye at first, but it was the awesome songs inside of the CD that captured my attention.  Though the band has been around for close to 35 years, it was the performance of two of the newest members that mostly caught my attention.  Guitarist Chris Broderick has officially been with the band since 2022, though he began touring with them before that.  He was just wailing all night on the guitar, showing the crowd why he has earned the reputation as one of the best players out there today.  The other was bassist Liam Wilson, who officially joined the band last year.  It seemed
like every time I lifted my head, he was there just rocking out all over the stage.  From behind the mic, next to the drums or off in space on his own, it was fun to try and seek him out.  Singer Anders Fridén is still in great voice and it is easy to see why after 14 albums and 35 years on the road, In Flames is still considered amongst the best metal bands that Europe has to offer.  I just wish he wouldn't wear a baseball cap on stage.  As a cap wearer myself, I understand the comfort. But as a photographer, they tend to block the face of the person wearing it.  Their most recent album, and 14th over all, Foregone, was released back in 2023 and continued their series of great releases.  All of the photographs of In Flames were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths.  Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of In Flames while they performed on the MTelus stage.

If you would like to find out more about In Flames and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Unearth, Lacuna Coil and Machine Head, who also performed that night, you can do so by following the respective links.  In Flames have built their reputation around their awesome songs and stage show.  Both were on display on this evening as they continued to show that they are among the best at what they do.  Be sure to check out In Flames when they performer in a town near you.
