The first act to perform at the Parc St. Marc on the 23rd as part of the Fête Nationale festivities was a tribute band to one of the most influential Québec music groups of the 1990s, Les Colocs. Their lead singer, André ‘Dédé’ Fortin has achieved a status as one of the most important voices of Québec rock, despite having passed away in 2000. His death, effectively ended the band, but not before leaving us with four unforgettable albums, filled with hits that still are played on the radio to this day. The group, Hommage aux Colocs have been together and paying homage to this unforgettable band since 2016. They play the songs flawlessly and managed to raise the temperature with their rock despite it already being in the low 40s Celcius when they hit the stage. The songs are well known by all, even this old Anglophone, so people were singing along from the opening notes, making an already festive evening into the ultimate street party. All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO setting and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Hommage aux Colocs as they performed on the Parc St. Marc stage during La Fête Nationale.
If you would like to find out more about Hommage aux Colocs and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website. If you would like to see the photographs that I took of our elected officials, Loud, Cindy Bédard and Francis Degrandpré, who all hit the stage over the two day holiday, you can do so by following the respective links. Much thanks to Line Tremblay, the Ville de Longueuil and Longueuil estculture for putting together these shows and for allowing me to shoot them. Merci beaucoup. Hommage aux Colocs and several shows lined up this year, be sure to check them out if they end up playing in a town near you.
