Laurence St-Martin At Le Studio TD

We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert photographs up here on The Old Blog.  I suppose we will catch up at some point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media, which you can do by following the link.  If you'd like an even more direct route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using the following link. If you’re looking for a good time on a Saturday night, the place you want to be is downtown Montreal.  If you can’t find the good time that you’re looking for on Montreal’s exciting streets, then you aren’t looking very hard.  On this particular Saturday night, there several options available to anyone out there, but I believe that the best party was taking place at the Studio TD.  Rising Country music star Laurence St-Martin was leading a hoedown of epic proportions, and invited several of her friends along for the party.  It has been a little over a year since the release of Laurence St-Martin’s third album, Avec Elle.  This evening was a celebration of that album.   It was also a big return to Montreal after spending much of the last year spent on the road, bringing her songs to her fans.  In order to ensure that a good time was had by all, her production team went all out to create a party atmosphere that none who attended would forget.  There was a red carpet with photo ops once you walked in to Le Studio TD.  Once inside the hall, the crowd got warmed up for the event by dancing along with the famed Cowboys Barbus line-dancing group.  As someone who regularly trips over their own feet, you couldn’t help but admire their moves.  The regulars were also super welcoming to all of the fans, young and old, who joined in to participate.  With the crown warmed up, Laurence St-Martin and her band hit the stage as the crowd roared to life.  The lights in the Studio TD were probably the brightest I had ever seen them, but they still paled in comparison to Laurence St-Martin’s smile as she looked around the room and saw it filled with fans, friends and family.  She opened her set with three songs from her Avec Elle album.  Up first was “Ça n’durea pas”, followed by “Ça nous rends fou” and “Party’s on the way”.   However, the truth of the matter is that the party was already here and it was only just getting started.  While there was no opening act on this night, there were several guest stars who stopped in for a few songs during the show.  All of them part of Québec’s growing crop of young Country musical stars.  Ghys Mongeon, Gab Forest, Doug St-Louis, Véronique Labbé and Francis DeGranpré, who had a similar party in his honour back in 2023, all took turns on the stage to sing some of their hits.  Each was welcomed to hoots, hollers and more than a few yee-haw’s!  The jeans and cowboy hat crowd was out in full force and showing full support for everyone who set foot on the stage.  After some emotional thank-you’s, Laurence St-Martin let us know that a new tour was being planned.  There were some exciting things planned for rest of the year as well, including a brand new single, "Aprés minuit", which was just release a few weeks ago.  She closed out her set with her big hit “Filles des îles” before everyone returned to the stage for one last rock and roll medley to bring this riotous evening to a thunderous close.  As the line-dancers returned, Laurence St-Martin remained by the stage, smiling for selfies and chatting with any fan who wanted to share the moment.  We all walked out of Le Studio TD knowing that in a city known for its parties, we had just been in the best one that had been taking place that night.  All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths.  Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Laurence St-Martin and her friends as they had their big party on the Le Studio TD stage.

If you would like to find out more about Laurence St-Martin and her music, you can do so by following the link.  Un gros merci beaucoup à Véronique Labbé of Productions Véronique Labbé and Christopher Gonda of V13 Media for getting me a pass to shoot the show.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  One of the great young voices of Québec Country music, Laurence St-Martin already has a great collection of songs and is terrific on stage.  She has a series of shows lined up all over Québec this Summer, so be sure to head out and see her if she is performing in a town near you.
