New Translations At MTelus

We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert photographs up here on The Old Blog.  I suppose we will catch up at some point, but this would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs can be seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media, which you can do by following the link.  If you'd like an even more direct route to my photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using the following link. Back in May we made out way to the MTelus for a sold out show and the band tasked with getting the party started with a bang was New Translations who treated everyone to a set full of energy that really got the crowd going.  New Translations had previously released a series of popular single which led to their first EP, 'The Business', back in 2023 and earlier this year, the band released their first full length album, 'Vacation'. They have a new wave feel to go with a mid-80s vibe.  I might even be willing to back up another decade to the 70s as lead singer Oliver Pierce spent most of the evening doing his best ‘Gene Gene The Dancing Machine’ impersonation.  If ever there was anyone who was feeling the music, it’s him. The further in to the set we got, the more he would shimmy, strut and shake.  While the band played on, Pierce sang his way around the MTelus, making it up to the second deck before eventually returning to the stage and leading the crown in a bouncing frenzy that threatened to shake the very foundations of the building.  It was an eye-opening performance.  All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths.  Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of New Translations as they performed on the MTelus stage.

If you would like to find out more about New Translations and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Rainbow Kitten Surprise, who headlined the evening, you can do so by following the link.  A very big thank you to Marjorie Lacroix of Warner Music Canada and Christopher Gonda of V13 Media for getting me a pass to shoot the show.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  New Translations are on the cusp of something great and it was awesome to see them at this stage of their career.  Don't miss out on their show of New Translations end up playing in a town near you.
