Sword At Théâtre Beanfield

Our final concert of the year back in December featured a legendary the legendary Montreal band Voivod, the photographs of which can be seen by following the link, so it's only right that out first show of 2024 at the Théâtre Beanfield featured four local bands and was headlined by a legendary Montreal band as well, Sword.  It was a cold and windy night as what had been an unusually tame Winter came back with a vengeance, trying to pack two months of snow, wind, rain and ice in to  a three day period. However, the weather wasn't strong enough to keep a full house from seeing their heroes hit the stage.  It was one year ago that Sword made their triumphant return to this very stage, and this show was like an encore for what had been an awesome 2023 for them.  Sword performed several shows in Quebec, was part of the circus that was Metallica's two show visit to town and get great reviews for their latest album, III, which was released in November of 2022.  Sword's heyday was back in the 80s when they would regularly open for all of the big metal bands that came through town, notably the aforementioned Metallica and Alice Cooper, while also headlining sold out shows on their own throughout the city and region.  Sword may be a little bit older, aren't we all, but they haven't lost any of the attitude that helped them make their name back then.  The fans certainly hadn't forgotten them.  From the moment that the giant 'Sword' banner appeared at the back of the stage to the lowering of the light before the band finally hit the stage, there was a deafening roar that shook the Heavens just enough empty more snow on a frozen January night.  Some may not have been happy with the flakes, but none were disappointed with the metal storm that was taking place on the stage.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1600sec, ISO 3200 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/800sec, ISO 3200 at 24mm.  Here are several more photographs of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Sword and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you'd like to see the photographs of Anonymus, Vantablack Warship and Atomik Train, who performed earlier, you can do so by following the links.  A big thank you goes out to Richard Chartrand of Sword Management for getting me a pass to shoot the show.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  Sword has seen and done it all, and they do it all so well.  The calendar may have just recently turned to 2024, but it might as well as said 1986 as Sword was on the stage and playing before a sold-out crowd of their adoring fans.  The good times do indeed last.
