Elizabeth Blouin-Brathwaite at Festin Culturel Brossard

The musical performances continues here on the blog as we continue to feature artists who performed at Brossard's Festin Culturel this past Saturday night.  The next singer who I got to photograph was Elizabeth Blouin-Brathwaite.  She not only took the stage to perform her own songs, but she also spent most of the night performing as a back-up singer for most of the other acts as well.  A second generation performer, her father Normand was the host for this event, Elizabeth has been entertaining crowds since she was very young, releasing a first album of songs when she was only 11 years old.  My only complaint about her performance was that it was almost entirely spent behind her large conga drums.  As such, I tried to take advantage of the times she would step out from behind them, and also play with the light a little bit.  The first photograph was taken at f/2.8, 1/500sec, ISO 3200 at 200mm and here are several more photographs of her performance.

That hair was just so awesome photograph.  Even behind the congas, she was flying all over the place and it was a nice challenge to try and catch all of that hair flying around.  As luck would have it, on several of the shots you could see the drummer behind her and his stick often followed Elizabeth's body movements.  Great fun, but there are still some more Festin Culturel photographs to go.
