Fuso At Fête Du Canada

I guess that it is a tribute to the multi-cultural world that we live in that a former citizen from France could establish himself in Quebec by singing a pop-reggae style of music while giving off a cool as air Southern California feel.  That, is Fuso.  He was the opening musical act at the Canada Day festivities in the Greenfield Park borough of the Ville de Longueuil and organized by Longueuil est Culture.  A first album, Fuso, par Fuso, was released back in 2016 and his most recent album, Danser dans la tornade, was released back in 2020.  Like most artists who released an album during that year, they weren't able to do very much touring, so he was very happy to be on a stage with us and his band.  His happiness and infections smile obviously won over many in the crowd, who lined up to meet him after his set.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/800sec, ISO 1600 at 61mm.  Here are several more photographs of his perfomance.

Derrick Frenette & Friends At Fête du Canada

Though it seems we aren't totally out of the woods yet, 2022 is the Year of the Return.  This time, it was the return of the Canada Day festivities in Greenfield Park.  This year, after a two year absence due to 'The Plague', the Ville de Longueuil and Longueuil est Culture organized another star studded concert was in the works, but to get us there was our host for the evening, comedian Derrick Frenette.  He got the crowd going with his stand-up routine and also kept the good times rolling during the set changes between the artists.  To kick off the evening, he was joined on stage by several local politicians for some ceremonial speeches and the singing of O'Canada.   Up first were Greenfield Park city councillors Sylvain Joly, Eric Normandin and Susan Rasmussen.  They were followed on stage by long serving local Liberal Party of Québec Member of Parliament Nicole Menard and Liberal Party of Canada of Canada Federal Member of Parliament Sherry Romanado.    With the speeches out of the way, the flag was lowered and the National Anthem was sung by Barbara Secours.   Cupcakes organized to look like the flag were distributed to those in attendance as everyone enjoys a little snack.  After that, it was show time.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/800sec, ISO 1600 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1000sec, ISO 1600 at 70mm,  Here are several more photographs from this part of the show.

Marc Dupré At Fête Nationale

The events may change, but the crowd chants of "Marc! Marc! Marc!" are always the same.  The Ville de Longueuil and Longueuil est Culture put on their annual Fête Nationale party this past Thursday night and the headliner was Québec's crown prince of Pop and Rock, Marc Dupré.  Though the clouds had parted by the time he took the stage, I think it's fairly safe to say that it would have taken more than a few rain drops to keep a crowd that has been waiting for two years from celebrating with one of their best known vedettes.  Sure enough, the chants of "Marc! "Marc!" Marc!" began to rain down as soon as his backing band hit the stage ended didn't end until the man himself hit the stage and the crowd decided to sing along to the tunes they had been waiting to hear.  His most recent album, Où sera le monde, was released last year and its title track was nominated for Song of the Year at the most recent ADISQ awards, adding to an already long list of award nominations and wins.  The first photogaph was taken at  f/2.8. 1/250sec, ISO 1600 at 70mm.  Here are several more photographs that I took of his performance.
