Lacuna Coil At MTelus

My camera and I made a return to the MTelus in Montreal the other night for a double shot of music.  The first band on the bill was Lacuna Coil, probably the best known Metal band from Italy.  There performance was top knotch, though for some reason, mine was lacking.  The mixture of harsh flashing lights and a viewfinder that was constantly fogging up due to my COVID required mask made things a little difficult for me.  I still managed to pull out a few decent shots, but feel my performance didn't live up to that of the band.  We all have off nights, I suppose, but these opportunities for me to be in a photo pit don't come every day, so it is especially frustrating for me when they happen there.  Getting back to the band, Lacuna Coil have been around as a band since the early 1990's and really took off with the addition of singer Christian Scabbia at the end of 1997.  Paired with vocalist Andrea Ferro, the band changed their name and began to develop the crunching double vocal attack.  They had a breakthrough with their 2002 album Comalies, which became the best selling album at their record label and were here touring their most recent album, Black Anima, which was released in 2019.  They also released a live album last year and we recently discovered that a new album of material has been recorded and should be released shortly.  As with most bands, since touring was out of the question during COVID, they kept busy writing new music.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/200sec, ISO 1600 at 24mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 1600 at 24mm.  Here are several more photographs of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Lacuna Coil and their music, feel free to follow the link to their website.  I also took some photographs of Apocalyptica that night, and you can find their photographs by following this link.  It's not my best collection of photographs, but hopefully the band will return to town someday soon so that I can try and redeem myself.
