This past weekend we celebrated the Fête Nationale here in La Belle Province. Traditionally held on the 24th, the Ville de Longueuil gets a head start on the festivities with a big party on rue Saint-Charles the night before. This year though, the party continued with another show on the 24th in Saint-Hubert. On Friday night, Sarahmée and Clay & Friends took care of things musically. Hosting the event was Erich Preach. A local comedian and television commentator who did a great job getting the crowd pumped up for the performance. At times, he even seemed to be as excited, and maybe even a little more, than the crowd. At the start of the evening he was joined on stage by a group of local and provincial members of government for a series of speeches honouring Québec, its people and its flag. Up on the stage was Longueuil mayor Catherine Fournier, Members of the National Assembly, Shirley Dorismond, Lionel Carmant, Isabelle Poulet and Ian Lafrenière, as well as Members of the House of Commons of Canada, Denis Trudel and Sherry Romanado and City Councillor Carl Lévesque. Quite the honorable committee. I've also thrown in a few shots of the crowd in this update, and added a few more photos from when most of them appeared again the next night in Saint-Hubert. It was mostly the same people, so I didn't see the point to creating another update with photos of the same people. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/200sec, ISO 6400 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100 sec, ISO 640 at 70mm. Here are more photographs of the distinguished guest and their adoring public.

As the speeches came to an end, that meant that it was time for the music to begin. With that in mind, if you'd like to see the photographs that I took of Sarahmée and Clay & Friends, you can do so my following the link. You can also find out more about Erich Preach by following the link to his Facebook page. A big merci beaucoup goes to Line Tremblay of the Ville de Longueuil for getting me a pass to photograph the shows. It is always very much appreciated. On to the music!
