It's Lasso Montreal weekend and the party got off to an early bang on Thursday night at the MTelus. I personnally can't think of a better way to kick off a party than with Montreal's own Queen of Country, Brittany Kennell. She is the spokeswoman for the festival this year, so it only made sense that she was the first of many awesome Country music acts who will be performing over the duration of the festival. Hitting the stage with a hearty 'Yee-Haw' and her always present smile, the place was rocking right off the bat as she performed one the lastest singles, House And a Dog, from a new album that should be coming out soon. Another single, Wait On You, was released the day after the show in what one would consider to be some perfect timing. She was joined on stage for a couple of songs by fellow Canuck Country songstress Kelly Prescott and by Ariel Posen, who she will be touring with this Fall. The should be a heck of a show too, if anyone who might be reading would be interested in offering me a photo pass for. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. There was no stopping this group once they got rolling, which is probably a good thing as I don't think the crown would have allowed them to stop even if they wanted too. I've said before that Montreal has rapidly turned into the Country Music Capital of Canada, and with local talent like Brittany Kennell leading the charge, there isn't much of a chance that the title will be abandoned any time soon. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/500sec, ISO 10000 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/400sec, ISO 3200 at 24mm. Here are several more photographs that I took of the performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Brittany Kennell and her music, you can do so by following the link to her website. You can also see the photographs that I took of Griffen Palmer and The James Barker Band by following the respective links. As I mentioned, Brittany Kennell will be touring quite a bit this Fall, be sure not to miss her show if she's playing near you.
