The Summer concert series put together by the Ville de Longueuil and Longueuil est Culture is beginning to wind down. Up on the steps of the Paroisse Saint-Hubert was one of the up and coming voices of Québec's Country Music movement, Vince Lemire. He got his start playing with other bands, but has embarked on a solo career that is beginning to take off. His first album, Gaz au Fond, was released last year and he's been putting in the kilometers by performing all over the province. It's been a very wet Summer and it has affected these concerts. Several have been cancelled due to the bad weather, and for a while it looked like this one would be as well. Vince Lemire and his band were just getting in to a groove when suddenly a couple of flashes of lightning lit up the sky. The organizers quickly let us know that the performance might be cut short due to bad weather, but the rain ended up coming a little faster than anyone had anticipated. One song late, a couple of drops fell out of the sky and then, Bam! Pow! Ka-Boom! Holy Summer Storm, Batman! The sky opened and the rain came falling down in buckets. People went running for cover as we tried to find a tree to remain dry. I ended up walking home to get the car to drive the rest of the clan, but even under cover of a tree, they were also fairly wet by the time I got back. The show was cut short, but everyone had a great time during the shortened set. The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/2000sec, ISO 3200 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1000sec, ISO 3200 at 182mm. Here are some more photographs that I took during the performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Vince Lemire and his music, you can do so by following the link to his website. A big thank you goes out to the Ville de Longueuil and Longueuil est Culture for the show, even if it was cut short. Vince Lemire and his band were in full form and having a great show before it was cut short due to the rain. He's still got a few more performances left this Summer, head on out to see him. Hopefully you'll get a full set, and hopefully I'll get a full one soon as well.
