The James Barker Band At MTelus

The pre-festival kick-off party for the Lasso Montreal festival was brought to a rowdy and rocking end by one of Canada's top Country Music exports, The James Barker Band.  Though they have moved on to more musical pastures in Nashville, the band got their start up here in Ontario and right from the start laid claim to being Kings of New Country music.  Right off the bat they won Country Music Association of Ontario awards for Fan's Choice in 2017, quickly followed up one year later with a Juno Award for Country Album of the Year.  They haven't taken a moment to look back either, as they hold the record for most #1 songs for a Canadian based Country Group in the modern Soundscan era.  Listening to them live, you're quick to understand why.  They came out of  shoot with guitars blazing.  It was nearing 10:00PM when they hit the stage, and the crowd had already experience two great performances, but they were immediately re-energized as The James Barker Band hit the stage with possibly their biggest hit single, Chills, off of their first EP, 'Game On'.  The crowd was already molten, and they remained that way in an over-heated MTelus until the end of the show.  Even the industrial strength fans that were blowing down on the crowd from the upper levels of the building could do nothing to cool down the crowd, or the band that they all came to see.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/500sec, ISO 3200 at 28mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.5, 1/100sec, ISO 2500 at 50mm.  Here are several more photographs that I took of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about The James Barker Band and their music, you can do so by following the link to their website.  If you'd like to see the photographs that I took of Brittany Kennell and Griffen Palmer, who played earlier in the evening, you can do so by following the respective links.  A huge thank you goes out to Shannon McNevan and Jack Healy of Starseed Entertainment.  I had only asked about possibly getting a photo pass, but they set me up with an All Access Pass, which I took full advantage of over the course of the night.  I can't say thank you enough, so allow me to say it once again.  The James Barker Band are definitely a band that is rolling at the moment and cannot be stopped.  There's probably a new album coming out in the near future, and you certainly can't go wrong by catching their live show.  If County Music is your thing, this is the band for you.
