Halestorm at Place Bell

This little concert photography adventure got a kickstart with a show by Halestorm back in 2019.  They were the first 'big' band that I was able to shoot and that show got the ball rolling to the point where I now shoot several concerts a year.  They were back in town at the Place Bell and I was very happy when I got my email saying that I had been approved to shoot them again.  But, enough about me.  It's been a long four years since Halestorm last set foot here and I, and their contingent of fans, were buzzing in the moments before the show began.  Halestorm is currently touring their fifth full length album, Back From The Dead, which was released last May.  They hit the stage as Lzzy Hale's roar awakened the crowd to let everyone know that business was about to begin.  I first heard her voice back in 2013 at the Heavy Montreal festival.  They only played five songs that day, but I was a fan from that moment on.  Her voice hasn't lost any of that power as she is without a doubt one of the most powerful singers out there.  Drummer Arejay Hale is a whirling dervish of energy behind his drum set and guitarist Joe Hottinger is probably one of the most underrated guitarist currently playing.  Collectively, they are one of the hottest acts that are out there and have a large following due not only to their talent, but because they are genuinely nice people as well.  During the pandemic, they set up a fund to help out their roadies and support staff who were out of work due to the lockdowns.  They also spent lots of time connecting with their fans online, further cementing the great relationship that they share.  The first photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/1000sec, ISO 5000 at 26mm and the second photograph was taken at f/3.2, 1/100sec, ISO 1600 at 61mm.  Here are several more photographs of their performance.

If you'd like to find out more about Halestorm and their music, you can do so by following the link.  If  you'd like to see the photographs that I took of Volbeat, who played later that night, you can do so by clicking on the link.  A big thank you goes out to Gwyther Bultman of In De Goot Entertainment for getting me a pass to shoot the band.  As always, it is very much appreciated.  As previously mentioned, Halestorm is one of the hardest touring bands out there today.  Be sure to get your ticket because this is not a band you want to miss.
