We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert photographs up here
on The Old Blog. I suppose we will catch up at some point, but this
would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs can be
seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media, which you can do
by following the link. If you'd like an even more direct route to my
photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using the
following link. Montreal’s
MTelus hosted a big welcome back party on Thursday night. It has been a few years since Coeur de Pirate
has graced one of our stages. She was
back in force, with a new album in hand and an adoring crowd that was excited
to be reunited with their favourite singer. The
Montreal show was the first in a short trek of Canadian cities. It provides a quick chance to get out and see
some
familiar faces. There were
certainly more than a few of those in the crowd on this night. She seemed to be waving to someone new every
time she looked out into the crowd. It
is also the perfect opportunity to introduce those fans to her new album. Cavale was released back in September and we
were treated to the entire album. It has been a rough couple of years dealing
with some medical issues, but once on the stage, it was like she never left. After opening the concert with “Laisse moi
pleurer”, Coeur de Pirate shouted a quick “Bonsoir Montréal!” Whatever ice there may have been was
immediately broken. “Un autre
regret”, another track of of Cavale, kept the momentum going before the crowd
got their first taste of an older hit with “Drapeau blanc”. The songs also featured several dance interludes. Coeur de Pirate
concerts are like a science
experiment. Take one part voice and mix
with one part performance art. The
result is a concert experience unlike all others. Totally original and unforgettably memorable. After the
rest of the songs from Cavale had been played, along with a generous portion of
her other well known hits, Coeur de Pirate thanked the fans. She thanked them for having always been there
over he career and for their support over the last few years. She said that the relationship they have
shared has been the greatest of her life.
After looking over all of the smiling faces, it was easy to see that the
feeling was mutual. All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Coeur de Pirate as she performed on the MTelus stage.

Coeur De Pirate At MTelus
If you would like to find out more about Coeur de Pirate and her music, you can do so by following the link to her website. If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Laraw, who performed earlier in the evening, you can do so by following the link. Much thanks goes out to Coeur de Pirate's management group at Bravo Musique, Evenko and Christopher Gonda at V13 Media for getting me a pass to photograph the show. As always, it is very much appreciated. After this
short Canadian tour, Coeur de Pirate will be heading over to Europe before
making a Montreal return early next summer.
I’m sure that everyone has already marked the date in their
calendar. Don’t you dare miss it when
Coeur de Pirate plays a town near you.
