We're a little bit backed up on getting my concert photographs up here
on The Old Blog. I suppose we will catch up at some point, but this
would be a good time to remind you that my concert photographs can be
seen in a much more timely manner by visiting V13Media, which you can do
by following the link. If you'd like an even more direct route to my
photographs, you can visit my personal page over there but using the
following link. At the
corner of Atwater and Ste-Catherine sits what remains of the legendary Montreal
Forum. It is a building where legends
were created. A few blocks south, the
son of one of those legends was continuing his own rapidly rising musical
trajectory. In a building actually older
than the Forum, Jonathan Roy had everyone at the Théâtre Beanfield energized. JonathanRoy found
himself in Montreal as part of this Symphony of Doubts tour. The tour is named after his most recent
album, which was released back in February.
Originally, this concert was scheduled to take place in February to coincide with the album being released, but it ended up getting delayed. Jonathan Roy
demonstrated to those that have been holding on to their tickets for the last eight months that good things come to those who wait. Our
headliner, Jonathan Roy, is known for being a spiritual soul. And a brave one as well. He strode barefoot along the carpeted stage. With the things I have seen deposited on that
stage, you need to be brave to walk barefoot upon it. Watching
Jonathan perform is as interesting as hearing him sing. Full
of energy and charisma, he owns the
stage and charms the crowd simultaneously.
In French, he would be referred to as a bête de scène. That would be someone who excels when the
lights are on him and it’s time to perform.
It’s no surprise that his show has been nominated for an ADISQ award for
Concert of the Year. He opened
his set with “Waiting For A Call”, the big single from Symphony of Doubts. He followed that up with a couple other
tracks from the same album, “Pulling Away” and “Divided”. By the time that he got to “Hate That I Love
You”, the Théâtre Beanfield was as alive as The Forum was during its glory
days. Supported by a group of awesome musicians, including the awesome
Tim Sussin on guitar, the music melds several genres together. An awesome light show and images on the video
wall only add to the ambiance in the room.
It’s all held together by our charismatic showman, only to happy be on
stage doing what he loves to do. And his
fans love him for it. All of the photographs were taken at f/3.2 while using various different shutter speeds, ISO settings and focal lengths. Here are the rest of the photographs that I took of Jonathan Roy as he performed on the Théâtre Beanfield stage.

Jonathan Roy At Théâtre Beanfield
If you would like to find out more about Jonathan Roy and his music, you can do so by following the link to his webpage. If you would like to see the photographs that I took of Pelch, who performed earlier that evening, you can do so by following the link. A big thank you goes out to Paul Jessop Management, Evenko and Christopher Gonda at V13 Media for getting me a pass to photograph the show. As always, it is very much appreciated. Jonathan Roy’s Symphony of Doubts tour continues in to
December. Don’t you dare miss it when he
plays in a town near you
