Montreal International Fireworks Competition - South Korea

Things have been kind of busy here at the old blog.  Your Friendly Neighbourhood Photographer has been out and about of late, and this past Wednesday I found myself down by the river for some fireworks.  It was the second showing of the International de Feux Loto-Quebec for the season and you all know how much I like a good set of explosions in the sky.  It was the turn of South Korea, and the Hanwah Corporation was in charge of the show.  They've been in the fireworks business since 1964 and the theme of the show was 'Dreaming in Montreal.  The first photograph was taken at f/16, 30sec, ISO 100 at 50mm.  Here are a few more that I took during the display.

f/16, 25sec, ISO 100 at 41mm

f/16, 20sec, ISO 100 at 41mm

Things started off really well, but a lack of wind caused the second half of the show to suffer from some lingering smoke.  They had some new tricks that I had never seen before, such as a pyramid of fire and a gadget shaped like a bird that flew over the site before eventually burning up and crashing back to the ground.  The competition has only just begun, but the standard has already been set high.  There are still six more shows to go, so don't miss out.
