New Years Day At Petit Campus

The headlining act on my Thursday night of music was New Years Day.  They were making their first tour of Montreal after the release of their latest album, 'Unbreakable' earlier this year.  I guess that you could call them a creation of internet as they first gained a fanbase by releasing their songs on Myspace back in the early 2000's.  They chose their name as a statement of having a fresh start after a series of failed bands and relationships.  Everything begins anew on New Year's Day, as they were hoping would be the case for the band.  I know that I am thankful for having discovered them, as they are the latest in a growing list of bands who have granted me passes to shoot their shows.  I would have liked a better variety of shots and some more of the band itself but there wasn't much light on the musicians.  I managed to save my evening by moving to the back of the venue and using my telephoto lens to get some shots of singer Ash Costello while she would stand on a platform above the crowd.  That disappointment aside, they put on a great show and mentioned that they'd be back in town later in the year.  Maybe I'll be able to get another pass to photograph them again.  Fingers crossed. The first photograph was taken at f/2.8, 1/40sec, ISO 4000 at 70mm and the second photograph was taken at f/2.8, 1/100sec, ISO 4000 at 70mm.  Here are a few more photographs that I took of their performance.

Thank you very much to the fine folks at Indegoot Entertainment and REDMUSIC for getting me a photo pass for the show.  As usual, I am very appreciative of the opportunity.  To see some of the photographs of the other band that performed, Era 9 & Savage After Midnight, follow the links to those updates.  As for New Years Day, don't forget to visit their website for more information.
